Final Chapter Part One
"...Goodbye for Now..."
"And even though the moment passed me by
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Got lost or thrown away
And now we're grown up orphans
And never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame
But you could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell your name
And scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there?
Did you get to be a star?
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are
We grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name...
I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
It's lonely where you are
Come back down
And I won't tell your name...."
Months passed since Misa and L, or Ryuzaki, or "Ryuuga-kun" as Misa liked to call him, ever had a fateful encounter. Life was hectic for what felt like years, however every day meant like something truly meaningful for the group.
Light continued to be a pompous ass about everything. Whether or not he was Kira began to matter less and less to the young Lawliet. His life began veering in a completely different direction, one he did not expect.

"How could it end this way?!" she screamed, as tears spilt so suddenly. It may as well have been blood pouring from her eyes. This was the hurt she felt.
"I don't want it to end....." He whispered. Yet the pain was so glaringly obvious in his voice, that no one could mistake his pain as well.
"Please...." Misa held up her hands as if in prayer. "I can't keep up a charade...I won't live my life without you..."
"...You have to." Eru looked at her, his features wracked with guilt. "You need to understand, I don't want this to end either....however, I don't have a choice."
"But, Ryuuga-kun!" Misa almost screamed, however the reason she couldn't was because of her awareness of others in the large building. "After all these months, months of being together, like the time you fell on me, followed by that first time we made out, and then a month later, that first time we finally made love..." Her tears still poured down hotly from her face.
"You can't tell me it's over after all that, can you?"
Ryuuga could only give her a sad smile, murmuring gently, "If you wish to scream, Misa-chan, you can always bite into my shoulder, just like you did before..."
"No. No! I don't want to do that to you anymore!" Misa wanted to scream more, but kept her voice down for his sake. "I love you way too much to ever put you through that ever again..."
A bengal kitten with big golden eyes, named Daxter, jumped down from his perch and greeted the two with a shy meow. He could sense the tension in the air as well. He was a surprise gift L had given her.
Misa started to sob while L simply picked up the kitten and pet him gently, holding him up to Misa's face so the kitten could put out a reassuring paw. Misa kept crying, but her tormented face softened as she pet the kitten and looked at Ryuuga.
She had never felt like this about anyone before. She couldn't help but be in love with his odd habits, his crazy ways of thinking, his complete awkwardness in any kind of social situation, and the way he acted like an angel even though he had trouble caring about himself. He was hers to love and care for, and he had promised her he'd give all he had just to make her happy.
They even got engaged, but alas, such a thing was not meant to happen. Things turned horribly wrong in the past few weeks, ever since her old shinigami Rem was discovered, and L was aware that he was falling right into Light's Trap.

It was raining outside. The raining was particularly loud today. Misa had noticed that L was particularly distracted today. He mentioned bells and said he wanted to go outside, but every time he asked her throughout the day, she could only hug him close and tell him how much she would miss him.
Finally, after much patience, he ended up grabbing her hand and pulling her to the rooftop, where the rain continued to pour heavily.
"I wanted to show you something special."
He let her stand in a spot where she would be rained on, and he found an old-looking box, and slowly brought it back to her.
"Do we have to stand out here like this? I really don't like being out in the rain..." Misa said with a hmph.
L smiled. "But you haven't seen the surprise!"
Then, in one swift move, Eru opened the old box. Inside was an amazingly gorgeous custom-made music box. It showed Misa and Eru dancing elegantly, while a song from England, called "Love Reign O'er Me" by The Who played.
For a few moments, Misa simply stared at the amazing treasure that sat there. Then, with a shocked gasp, she turned and hugged him with all her might. She let herself cry this time into his chest, and of course, he didn't mind.
"...Only love
Can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky
Only love
Can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high..."
"Thank you, dearest Eru...I will never forget this..." Misa said, as her tears welled up again.
"It was nothing," Eru said gently. "I meant everything I said. This is just one more way I can prove it."
Misa looked at him, hurt still showing from her heart.
"Will you ever come back...?"
L gave her a sad smile, before finally replying.
"I'll do my best to, one day...dearest Misa-chan."
Later that night, L silently left her floor, making sure their kitten was tucked by her side and the music box was there near her. Then, with nothing but silence as his company, he left without uttering one more word.
